Peter Wolf biography

Over the past quarter century Peter has established himself as a prolific writer across several media, with 44 commissions to date.

Productions of his theatre scripts have included the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Gielgud Theatre in the West End, along with regional touring in the UK and acclaim in the US.

Numerous radio commissions for the BBC include work with Bill Nighy, Tim Pigott-Smith, Roger Allam, Samuel West, Ciaran Hinds, Juliet Stevenson, Robert Glenister, and Juliet Aubrey: together with several award nominations and also a Gold Medal 'radio Oscar' first prize at the New York International Festival of Radio.

Writing libretti for composer Norbert Zehm means Peter's work has been performed in Austria, Germany, Italy and the UK, and frequently broadcast across Europe. In 2008 Norbert and Peter's anthem for the Euro Soccer Championship,  was officially adopted by the host city of Innsbruck.

Recent libretti productions include two new premieres: for Norbert Zehm's opera CADENCE MACBETH at Tiroler Landestheater, Innsbruck; and Mozart's operetta THE IMPRESARIO at Redbridge Drama Centre, London, which transferred to the Rosemary Branch, London, for an extended run.
November 2012 saw two arias from CADENCE MACBETH performed by Norbert together with soloist Arno Raunig - THE YEAR IS A SONG and BE SOMEONE -
at the Treibhaus, Innsbruck, as part of the ongoing TIME WINDOWS project.
2013 / 14 marked more BBC broadcasts of
STRANGE MEETING, Peter's radio script paying homage to the antiwar poet Wilfrid Owen. The production - starring Alex Jennings and Paul Rhys, with original music by Norbert - is becoming a feature of the BBC's Remembrance Day schedule.  

2014 also featured the premiere, live recording, and ORF Austrian radio broadcast of THE ACE, performed by an ensemble with soloist Arno Raunig. THE ACE is the first aria taken from Norbert and Peter's forthcoming opera SHADOW LEAR.
